SCDPS REPORTS SEVEN KILLED ON SOUTH CAROLINA ROADS
APRIL 14 – APRIL 16, 2017

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of seven persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, April 14, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, April 16, at midnight.

As of April 16, 2017, 264 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 275 highway deaths during the same time period in 2016.

 

Of the 186 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2017, 95 were not wearing safety belts. 

 

Through midnight April 16, 41 pedestrians died compared to 38 in 2016; 26 motorcyclists died compared to 35 in 2016; and five bicyclists died compared to nine in 2016 on state roads and highways.
