SCDPS REPORTS EIGHT KILLED ON SOUTH CAROLINA ROADS

NOVEMBER 3 – NOVEMBER 5, 2017

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of eight persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, November 3, at 6:00 p.m. until Sunday, November 5, at midnight.

As of November 5, 817 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 862 highway deaths during the same time period in 2016.


Of the 549 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2017, 268 were not wearing seat belts. 


Through midnight November 5, 125 pedestrians have died compared to 120 in 2016; 102 motorcyclists have died compared to 131 in 2016; and 16 bicyclists have died compared to 22 in 2016 on state roads and highways.
