SCDPS REPORTS SIX KILLED ON SOUTH CAROLINA ROADS

NOVEMBER 17 – NOVEMBER 19, 2017

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of six persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, November 17, at 6:00 p.m. until Sunday, November 19, at midnight.

As of November 19, 850 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 908 highway deaths during the same time period in 2016.


Of the 572 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2017, 276 were not wearing seat belts. 


Through midnight November 19, 130 pedestrians have died compared to 127 in 2016; 104 motorcyclists have died compared to 137 in 2016; and 17 bicyclists have died compared to 22 in 2016 on state roads and highways.
